Overview
Yuraku Confectionery will hold "Blackathon," an engineer-focused hackathon hosted by Black Thunder, in Akihabara on June 6 and 7, 2026.
The project positions Black Thunder as a snack companion for computer work. Participants will experience BTDD, or Black Thunder Driven Development, while working in teams on a theme announced on the day.
Highlights
Participants will eat Black Thunder between development sessions while competing in a hackathon that evaluates technical skill, creativity, and playfulness. Participation perks include original event SWAG and one box of Black Thunder containing 20 bars.
The winning team receives ¥393,939 in prize money plus roughly one year of Black Thunder, or 320 bars. Judges include Daily Portal Z editor-in-chief Yuji Hayashi, CodeZine editor-in-chief Yuko Kondo, Kayac creator Yumoya, and Yuraku Confectionery president Tatsunobu Kawai.
Entry runs from April 21 to May 12, 2026, with selection results planned for May 19. Venue details will be shared separately with participants.
