Overview
A lecture and talk session titled "Thinking About Figures and Japanese Culture from Akihabara" will be held on April 26, 2026 at EDOCCO STUDIO.
Japanese doll culture has been handed down through a long history — from haniwa clay figures and hina dolls to karakuri automata and festival dashi floats. Today, three-dimensional figures of anime and manga characters have also grown beyond mere toys to be recognized as part of Japanese culture.
Highlights
The event will feature a lecture on the history of doll culture, followed by talk sessions involving figure manufacturer representatives, Japanese culture specialists, and a voice actor.
The program begins at 14:00 with a lecture by Hiroaki Koresawa titled "On the History of Doll Culture," followed by two talk sessions. Speakers include representatives from Mega House, Good Smile Company, Kotobukiya, Ohami, and other companies involved in the figure industry.
