The Tokyo Hire-Taxi Association holds "Takkun Appreciation Day 2026," an event marking August 5's "Taxi Day," at Belle Salle Akihabara on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 12:00 to 16:00. It is a free, family-friendly participatory entertainment event.
Highlights
Indoor activities, free to join, include a stamp rally for visitors 15 and under (collect stamps at four spots for a limited prize), original can-badge making, and charm making. The stage program features live performances by idol groups ARCANA PROJECT, Sayonara Stay Tune, and Chum Toto (paid meet-and-greet available afterward), plus a Tora-san impersonation act and pantomime performance.
The outdoor event space displays an actual taxi wrapped with the winning "one-line taxi" catchphrase, plus panels of other award-winning entries. Now in its sixth year, the "one-line taxi" campaign drew 16,940 entries, with four winning copy lines wrapped onto 20 taxis running around Tokyo throughout August.
