Overview
On June 16, 2026, ZIPAIR Tokyo, Bic Camera, and JAL Cargo Service announced a partnership to strengthen wagyu export sales through the pre-order souvenir service "AKIBA GO." A wagyu promotion booth has been set up at the Bic Camera AKIBA store in Akihabara, Tokyo to mark the move.
Highlights
"AKIBA GO" lets users order products on a dedicated website and pick them up at the airport on their departure day. It follows "AKIBA ZIP," a ZIPAIR-passenger-only service launched in December 2024, but AKIBA GO is open to passengers of any airline.
Ordered wagyu is transported to the departure airport by JAL Cargo Service. On departure day, travelers pick it up at the JAL ABC counter inside the airport, kept cold for up to 30 hours along with the required quarantine certificate, then check it in as ordinary baggage.
As part of this partnership, pickup locations expand from Narita Airport Terminal 1 to also include Narita Terminal 2 and Haneda Terminal 3. The service targets travelers on Singapore- and US-bound flights departing from Narita or Haneda (excluding international connecting flights). Order deadlines are 22:00 two days before pickup at Narita, and 24 hours before pickup time at Haneda.
At the Bic Camera AKIBA storefront in Akihabara, staff in traditional happi coats hand out flyers reading "Why not take WAGYU home?" to promote Japanese wagyu to inbound visitors. Sample products include a 1.2kg Iwate beef block (¥46,440 tax included) and a 1.2kg Kagoshima black beef block (¥38,400 tax included) for the US market.
ZIPAIR President Yasuhiro Fukada said AKIBA GO currently handles "a few dozen orders per month" and expressed high expectations for the service's expansion. Bic Camera Executive Officer Yoshikatsu Kawasaki noted that Bic Camera AKIBA is strong on tax-free sales but had been weak on food, and that this initiative aims to strengthen that lineup.
