Highlights
Fukushimaya Akihabara had been used by local residents and office workers as one of the few grocery stores near Akihabara Station, closing after about ten years since it opened in December 2016. The store had a well-stocked deli corner selling bento and homemade side dishes, and in November 2024 the izakaya "Tsufuya Bar" opened inside the store as well.
The same location previously housed the supermarket "Wise Mart AKIBA_ICHI" before Fukushimaya. No plans for a successor store have been announced as of this writing, and the sudden closure announcement has reportedly surprised many in the area.
